The drawings of Vincent van Gogh in the collection of the KMM
In connection with the extensive research of the Vincent van Gogh paintings in the Kröller-Müller collection, documented in the earlier published catalogue, a similar research of the drawings in the collection took place. Drs Teio Meedendorp, who was deeply involved with the paintings project as researcher and author, was invited by the museum to research the drawings for a period of 2 years.
All 181 sheets by Van Gogh were again, after 20 years, subject of a very detailed research. A source of information, apart from the presentation, type of paper and various materials Van Gogh used for his drawings, are the letters of Van Gogh's almost daily correspondence with his brother Theo.
The catalogue, with illustrations and extensive description of all the works, was completed in 2007. Together with the paintings catalogue, the entire Van Gogh collection of the Kröller-Müller Museum is documented now, and is accessible to all. Dutch and English editions of both catalogues are available.
