Verband der Restauratoren (VDR) e.V.
Date: Sep 25, 2009
Symposium Fachgruppe Moderne Kunst / Kulturgut der Moderne des VDR, Kunsthalle Mannheim.
This lecture addresses the specific difficulties of the maintenance of large scale outdoor sculptures. Two examples from the sculpture garden of the Kröller-Müller Museum are used to demonstrate possible solutions: Marta Pan “Sculpture Flottante” (Otterlo, 1961) and Atelier Van Lieshout “Mobile Home for Kröller-Müller” (1996). The focus will be on the preliminary approach, the estimates for time, money and people and the planning in phases before large scale projects can even start.
